In August 2018 the LDIP received funding from the Welsh Government and Europe through the Rural capital development programme (RCDF) and the Rural Development Programme (RDP) LEADER initiatives. Our project is to improve broadband provision, improve the viability of the halls, engage with our community, attract new users and raise digital awareness and skills for our community.
Our partnership is made up of four village halls in the Llanover war, the Llanover community council and Monmouthshire Council. We formed a steering group to manage the project who meet quarterly. The four village halls are the Bryn, Llandewi Rhydderch, Llanfair Kilgeddin and Llanover. Representatives of the four village hall committees sit on the steering group.
Since we started we have upgraded our halls to be accessible for all and installed superfast broadband. We have now started a programme of activities and training to engage with our community and raise awareness of digital technology.
The project will run through to September 2020. So if you’d like to know more contact the clerk to Llanover community council or activities we are running see our webpage activities list.
Here are some images of the things we have done to date.
